Provide additional insights or alternative perspectives. Describe a situation from your professional experience in which communication caused a conflict that had to be managed. We experienced a conflict in communication between our surgery scheduler and Director of Nursing and OR Charge RN.

Our scheduler has been in her role for over a year and takes full accountability and ownership of her role. She prides herself on scheduling with minimal errors and knowing preferences surgeons for case order based on availability of equipment/staff. Our DON and OR Charge have been in their positions for approximately seven months and are accustomed to adjusting in the schedule to accommodate staffing and physician needs. They would move cases to different operating rooms or utilize two rooms without discussing with the scheduler. They were also noted to make calls to office schedulers to make changes in the schedule without notifying our surgery scheduler. Our scheduler became frustrated by the lack of communication regarding why this was being done. The tension began to grow, leading to distrust between them that was impacting the moral leaving everyone involved. Illustrate what challenges were presented due to this situation and what the impact of these challenges would be for a healthcare administrat.
