Discussion 1: A call centre based in India secured a 2-year contract with a major multinational company (MNC) to provide after-sale services to its customers. The call centre had been very aggressive in pricing its service to secure this contract. Its offer price was 30% lower than its closest competitor based in a neighbouring country. It was confident that it would be able to meet the needs of this client and make a profit. For the call centre to be profitable, the business manager requested the HR department to review job scope of the call centre operator before it embarked on a recruitment drive to hire more operators. In its recruitment exercise, the HR manager was aware that recruitment and the training of operators must fulfil the low-cost strategy and still meet the customer needs. Demonstrate the effectiveness of a job analysis on the execution of a low cost strategy on the call centre.
