Theological Application: Defining Key Eschatological Terms

While the different views on aspects of Revelation can seem a bit overwhelming, it is appropriate to become familiar with the options and begin to wrestle with possible interpretive preferences.

Briefly define the following terms:

-Views on the millennium: premillennialism, postmillennialism, amillennialism

-Views on the timing of the rapture: pretribulational, midtribulational, pre-wrath, posttribulational

-Views on the fulfillment of the prophecies: preterist, historicist, idealist, futurist

Then, discuss which position is preferred for each view and then rationalize that position.

  • Martin & Davids, Dictionary of the Later New Testament and Its Developments
