1. Define selective incapacitation. Should we consider the dangerousness of the offense before sentencing a person to prison? Does the criminal history of the offender matter even if the person is convicted of a non-violent, less dangerous crime?

4. If we determine less dangerous offenses should not receive prison or jail time, what is the alternative? Refer back to Chapter 10 and community-based supervision. Is something else more effective in reducing recidivism (reoffending)?
