ASSIGNMENT BRIEF

Scenario

You have applied for the role of Human Resource Assistant in HSBC Bank Plc. You have been invited to for the selection process and it comprises with three assessment tasks related to the HR role that you applied for. The selection process requires you to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding of Human Resource Management (HRM) by completing a comprehensive business report performing the activities in the following sections.

(You must conduct some research on HSBC Bank Plc and current practices in HRM department)
Assessment Task

Section 1

1. The business report should have a brief introduction to the organisation (HSBC bank Plc) includingmission statement, and core business objectives.

2. Assess the importance of workforce planning to the goals of the organisation, and consider the role strategic HRM plays when considering resourcing needs for a global business.

3. Evaluate, using specific examples, the strengths and weaknesses of different approaches to recruitment and selection.

Section 2

1. Explain the benefits and limitations of two of the following HRM practices for HSBC and the employee (you must provide examples):

• Learning, development and training,
• Job and workplace design,
• Performance management
• Rewardmanagement withinthe chosen organisation (HSBC Bank Plc) for both the employer and the employee.
2. Evaluate how relevant HRM is to organisational efficiency, effectiveness and profitability.

Section 3

1. Critically analyse the importance of employee relations with respect to influencing HRM decision making.
2. Evaluate the key elements of employment legislation and the impact it has on HRM decision-making.(Ensure that you discuss the impact of at least two UK employment legislations such as anti-discrimination, equality and diversity, data protection, GDPR, health and safety or any legislation related to the workplace)
3. Illustrate the application of HRM practices, and provide a rationale for its application in the organisation. Design the following documents: one job advertisement, with a job description and person specification, a sample interview questionnaire, and an appointment letter. (you may consider the use of appendices for the documentation)

Submission Format
The submission is in the form of a concise formal business report on theeffective management and application of human resources in HSBC Bank Plc thatcovers all the above-mentioned activities specified in section 1, 2 and 3. All three sections should be submitted together, as a single MS Word or PDF document.

You should use 1.5 line spacing and font size 12. You are required to make use of headings, sub-headings and paragraphs as appropriate to a bussiness report format using clearly numbered sections. Your work must be properly referenced using citations and a bibliography following the Harvard referencing system.
