In a clinical setting, one of the most important things that I have found helpful in creating a good connection and communication is empathy. I have realized that most patients need someone who can show empathy. Such empathy is well established when a nurse depicts a high level of emotional intelligence. Of course, it cannot be forgotten that most patients direly need emotional support. For a nurse to adequately help a patient, it is important to establish strong trust and connection with them. That starts and ends with showing emotional concern and depicting the sense of understanding that patients also need emotional support to recuperate. Besides, we should apply empathy in all our lives like managing stress. "Research on medical students has shown that emotional intelligence is an important factor in managing stress and better adjustment" (Drigas and Papoutsi, 2020, p.23). I have been able to create a sense of hope and strength in patients by being empathetic. The trust that I have witnessed in my line of work is because I can show empathy. I think showing love and concern plays a significant role in healing. Another aspect I have seen emotional intelligence helping so much is the creation.
