Assignment:

You are the HR team of a 1000 bed hospital. You have lost 25% of your nurses since the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. before the pandemic you were already operating 20% below your required nursing staff. Your current nursing staff is overworked, and it is impacting quality of care they provide. They are making mistakes in their care delivery, a few of these mistakes have been vital. You are facing malpractice suits, and much backlash from the community. To make matters worse, your state has mandated that ALL healthcare workers must be vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus unless they have religious or medical exceptions. This has resulted in resistence from your current nursing staff. 35% of them are not vaccinated, 80% of whom have agreed to be vaccinated. However, the remaining are threatening to leave the job and refusing to submit exemption based on religious or medical grounds.

  • Identify and list the issues at hand.
  • Identify 2 possible solutions for your identified main problem that address each of the issues above.
  • For each of your possible solutions create an implementation plan. This plan should include an implementation timeline (planning phase to evaluation phase), who will be responsible for what, a communication plan, etc.
  • For each of your solutions identify the resources you need to have.
