Lab Tutorial: Windows Server 2016 Installation
Create a Virtual Machine using Oracle VirtualBox
Name the machine Windows Server 2016_1234, where 1234 is your student ID.
Allocate RAM between 2 GB and 16 GB.
Create a virtual hard disk.
Select VDI as the hard disk file type.
Select Dynamically Allocated storage.
Use a 50 GB virtual hard disk.
Add the Windows Server 2016 ISO image.
Install Windows Server 2016
Select the appropriate language and time/currency settings.
Click Install.
Select Windows Server 2016 with GUI.
Accept the licence terms.
Select Custom: Install Windows only.
Select the available disk and click Next.
Complete the installation.
Set and remember the Administrator password.
Change the Server Name and Workgroup
Change the server name to Ab1234, where Ab represents the first two letters of your first name and 1234 is your student ID.
Set the workgroup name to ITSA1001.
Restart the system.
Take a screenshot of the Local Server details.
Provide an IP Address for the Server
Open Network settings → Ethernet → Change adapter options.
Open the Ethernet adapter properties.
Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) → Properties.
Configure the static IP address:
IP address: 192.168.1.10
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0

Creating a custom Console
Create a custom view with:
Logged: Last 24 hours
Event Type: Critical
Event logs: Event logs → Applications and Services Logs → Hardware Events
Save the settings to Console 1
Using Operating System Performance Monitors
Select Performance Monitor from Tools
Click on the Performance Monitor tab
Click on Add
Add the custom counters
Processors → Select all counters
Press OK
