Short Paper: Evaluating a Database for Security Problems
Database security is critical to every user and every database. Some very sensitive and private information is contained in every database. The volume and central location of information make databases a priority target among thieves.
Through auditing, you can analyze when a security breach occurred. Different auditing and penetrating testing techniques have been used to check the weakness of the database system, and the database audits are designed to monitor user actions. Therefore, audits help the DBA identify database vulnerabilities and pinpoint security issues.
You work as the IT Database Security Administrator for a small corporate network. As part of your ongoing program to improve database security, you would like to implement a database audit policy at your organization by identifying the security problem in your existing database and providing the possible prevention measures to prevent upcoming threats.
Create a paper that responds to the following:
1. Create a table that includes a rotating schedule for the 12 months of auditing. Include columns that identify time estimates for each audit listed.
2. Identify and describe the resources that are required to complete a database audit policy.
3. Provide recommendations for securing the database that are unique to Oracle and MySQL.
Use the American Psychological Association (APA) style (6th edition) for writing your assignment. Compose your work in a .doc or .docx file type using a word processor (such as Microsoft Word, etc.) and save it frequently to your computer. For those assignments that are not written essays and require uploading images or PowerPoint slides, please follow uploading guidelines provided by your instructor.
