SCENARIO
You are the Womens Tailored Sportswear Buyer / Planner of Saks Off Fifth.
WDNY was a hot vendor last year- so this year you are going to capitalize
on the trend and fund the business in all 30 of your stores for a Fall (Sept 15th) delivery
We will be viewing the line virtually and you will also have a line sheet as a guideline. WDNY is an 'Item' or 'classification' house rather than a 'Collection' or Coordinate House', meaning most of the items in the WDNY line are all intended to be stand alone,[hopefully bestsellers], and do not necessarily work back to other pieces or a collection. WDNY Linesheets. The prices for all styles by category are:
JKTS: COST- $29 MSRP- $98, Off Price Sell price $57.99
SKIRTS: COST-$20
MSRP-$68, Off Price Sell price $39.99
BLOUSES: COST-$16
MSRP $58 Off Price Sell price $31.99
The MSRPs are just for reference - Saks off 5th is an Off Price Retailer-Use the 'Off-Price Sell Prices' to calculate total retails & MU's if you change retail prices. The dept markup is 50% but you can make each item a bit more or less if you want to as long as it comes out to 50% in total. (If you leave all "Sell Prices" as is, there is nothing to calculate).
You have 30 stores but they are not all the same. Your top 8 doors "Cluster 'A' do the most volume (Urban)- NYC, Chicago).
and are the most fashion forward. The second cluster of doors - 'B' are 12 suburban stores
on Long Island/ New Jersey. They are located in the wealthy suburbs .
The C cluster is 10 stores in New England- A more traditional customer.
You will buy multiple classifications for the 30 stores using the guidelines set in the assignment.
You will fill T-STANDS AND 4-WAYS.
T-STAND CAPACITY= 2 ARMS 12 PCS PER ARM.
4- WAY CAPACITY = 4 ARMS 18 PIECES PER ARM.
The unit amount each store will receive is broken down into A,B&C stores.
1. You will figure out how may styles you need to buy and in what quantity in order
to fill your stores. You may not put more than one style on a arm .
2. Your total purchase should be approximately this markup, it can be a bit more or less, you are the merchant. Basically, since you are given the cost and retail prices, you will just need to calculate the markup.
Do not forget to create valid/ realistic price points for Saks Off-5th.
3. Who is the customer?: She is an older Millennial or young Gen X. She likes trendy, good quality apparel, and can afford to buy it.
