Opportunity cost represents what potential benefits that could occur if an organization chooses one option over another. At the current organization I work for, RHA Health Services, there is an opportunity cost that clearly turns into a sunk cost. RHA has clinical trainings that the organization signs each employee up for at the beginning of their hiring process. These trainings are what give the therapists training in the model-based therapy the company follows. These trainings are three and half hours along with thousands of dollars each staff member. There are some therapists that agree to disagree with the model the organization uses. The opportunity cost in this case would be that therapists can use those hours to bill the insurance company, that way the organization as a for profit, can benefit. Another opportunity cost is that the company is losing money because the therapists are not taking in the knowledge needed to be retained. As well.
