The scores shown below are the number of correct scores on a standardized reading test for a random sample of 6th grade students from Washington Elementary School. The mean for the school district (the "Test Value") is M = 32.00.

Conduct a t test to determine whether the known value of 32.00 for the district is significantly different from the mean score for Washington Elementary School. Note that 32.00 is the "Test Value" in SPSS. Answer the following questions.

Scores for a random sample at Washington Elementary School: 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36, 38, 40

a. What is the value of the mean for the sample at Washington Elementary School? 32.67

b. What is the value of t?

c. What is the associated probability?

d. Is the difference between the district mean of 32.00 and the mean at Washington Elementary School statistically at the .05 level?

e. Make statement of the results of the significance test.
