Currently the available control measures for the norovirus include frequent washing of hands, cleaning up after a vomit or diarrhea, when sick staying home, not preparing food while sick at least the first 48 hours not too, and applying hand sanitizer when possible (Communicable Disease Branch, 2024). Other effective measures include removing people if sick, when possible, from facilities, always disinfecting where vomit or diarrhea occurred and having strict adherence to washing hands. Communicable Disease Branch, 2024). It is very important for early reposting and fast response to control potential outbreaks. Adding norovirus to the list of reportable diseases would improve public health surveillance and response time. If norovirus were reportable, it would facilitate faster detection of outbreaks and enable timely interventions and contamination strategies. Early reporting would enhance coordination between health professionals, the health department, and affected locations, thereby improving outbreak management and reducing the number of norovirus cases.
