Question: ACME, Inc. is growing like crazy! Now, we need to put into place a more secure and faster connection between our headquarters and our satellite offices. The two locations are approximately one mile apart and are in a heavily populated area.

With locations that are one mile apart, it is difficult to run Cat6 cable. Fiber will work but one mile of fiber will cost approximately $25,000. The other option is to procure a circuit from a vendor. The vendor will use their wire/channel and drop serial connections in your buildings. There will be a mostly charge. You will need to connect the serial connections to your internal routers. I am not expecting you to configure a VPN tunnel between the two remote sites, see diagram below
