Psychology and Human Behavior
It is very common to complain about one's boss. There are many examples in TV, movies, and real life of bullying and harassment. In a recent survey it was reported that 20% of workers say that a manager has hurt their career. A random sample of 500 workers in the retail industry was obtained, and 115 indicated that a boss had hurt their career.
a. Identify n, x, and p0.
b. Check the nonskewness criterion. Is a large-sample hypothesis test about p appropriate?
c. Conduct the appropriate hypothesis test to determine whether the proportion of workers in the retail industry who believe a boss has hurt their career is different from p0. Use a = 0.05.
d. Compute the p value associated with this test.
Use Z or T test? And why? At α = 0.05, what is the rejection rule? Compute the value of the test statistic. What is the p-value. What is the hypothesis being tested in this problem? In the above ANOVA table, is the factor significant at the 5% level
