Capstone Industry Project - Assessment: Project Reflection

Learning Outcome 1: Critically reflect on approaches taken and performance of the team in the development of a solution to an applied project.

Assessment Purpose
You will complete this assessment individually by submitting two reflective reports of approximately 750 words each. The first report is due in Week 7 and should focus on your contributions and observations during the first half of the project. The second report is due in Week 12 and should reflect on your experiences in the latter half of the project, including how you applied feedback and adapted your approach.

Assessment Instructions
This individual assessment consists of two reflective reports of approximately 750 words each, submitted at different points in the project timeline.

Reflection 1: Focuses on your early-stage contributions and experiences, capturing insights about planning, initial development, and collaboration.

Reflection 2: Focuses on your performance and growth in the final project stages, including how you applied feedback and refined your approach.

The two-part structure is intentional to help you identify how your thinking, contributions, and teamwork evolved over time. This comparative perspective supports deeper critical reflection on your development.

Your reflections must include:

• An analysis of how use cases were integrated into the UI design.
• Comprehensive system design models (e.g., DFDs, ERDs, and architecture diagrams). Additionally, students must evaluate their approach to network security, system testing, and project execution, identifying areas of success and opportunities for improvement. Students may benefit from reviewing concepts in Software Engineering when discussing design and development practices.
• A review of the system switchboard and storyboard.
• A discussion of the advanced class diagram and Computer System Architecture.
• Evaluation of client-server and Data Communication and Networking, LAN and WAN designs, and topologies.
• A detailed test plan linked to the documented requirements.

Please adhere to APA 7th referencing guidelines and the formatting rules specified in the ICMS Style Guide.

Attendance Requirement: Students must attend classes in person to be eligible to receive marks for this assessment. As this is a project-based unit, students are required to demonstrate their weekly project progress to their supervisor during class. In addition, after submitting the assessment, students must attend the post-submission class discussion about their work. If a student does not attend this post-submission class, the submitted assessment will not be marked.
