Assignment:
Agenda setting is an extension of the problem identification and prerequisite to successful policy development at all levels. Consider the complexities of agenda setting related to healthcare reform and current crises such as response to a pandemic at the national and state levels in the United States. The agenda-setting process is based on a variety of intersecting factors, such as the policy problem, the scope of the issue, the stakeholders, the timing, personal agendas, and public agendas. Agenda setting at the federal level, within key nursing organizations, and for key clinical issues requires a critical role nurses must play in this process. Nurses' full understanding and control of agenda setting are foundational to the achievement of sustained power in policy. Knowing the basic concepts related to agenda setting is a prerequisite to appreciating its power (Patton et al., 2022).
Discuss how can you leverage your influence as a member of the most trusted health profession (Nursing) to create, move forward, or reframe an agenda on an issue about which you are passionate? Additionally, use examples to highlight the value of speaking with a unified voice at various policy levels. In contrast, discuss the impact of fragmented views on policy development. Share key strategies to build group cohesion and achieve a policy goal. Support responses with text and/or current, peer-reviewed scholarly literature.
Additionally discuss additional strategies for leveraging your influence to create, move forward, or reframe an agenda of importance. Support your responses with the text and/or current, peer-reviewed scholarly literature.
