Assignment:
1. Compare the postpositivist and constructivist worldviews regarding social science research. Integrate terminology learned during the course to demonstrate your understanding of things such as epistemology, ontology, axiology, and methodology.
2. Compare and contrast the following qualitative methodological approaches to qualitative research: Narrative, Phenomenology, Grounded Theory, Ethnography, and Case Study. In your analysis, provide an example of at least one topic that you think best lends itself to each approach and why?
3. What types of ethical issues need to be anticipated during the process of social science research involving human participants? Your response must reference the elements of the Belmont Report and name some specific actions that you took while collecting and analyzing data as a researcher to protect your participant.
4. Explain the purpose and process for the first two stages of data analysis: Initial and Categorical/Thematic coding of a transcript. Use your experience as a researcher to describe each based on the interview project that you completed.
5. Why interview? What can we learn from better understanding the lived experiences of others that can be difficult to ascertain from survey data? How can qualitative research findings support quantitative inquiry?
