You are the director of a group home for at-risk youth, and have learned from a neighbour that a client and staff member were making fun of the neighbours, including the one who reported the incident to you. This has resulted in increased tension with the surrounding community, further disrespectful behaviour from the clients, and lowered staff morale.

Now, it is your job to write a brief memo to all staff, or a letter of apology to the neighbours (in a real scenario, you would write both; for this assignment, write just one). Your communiqué should consist of at least three paragraphs-one that summarizes the incident and states the purpose of the communiqué, one or two that explain why professional communication is important at all times at your agency, and one that states your desired action (the memo to your staff can outline possible sanctions for such occurrences in the future, and the letter to neighbours can reassure them that it was an isolated incident). Make sure to also thank the reader. Include only the necessary and appropriate information, and keep in mind your audience and purpose.
