A Christian worldview can be considered, at its core, "do unto others as you would have them do unto you". I believe this corresponds to a key value for any nurse. We want the very best for our patients and many of us treat them as we would treat one of our own loved ones. This is never more apparent than when looking at oncology nurses (I believe there is a very special place in Heaven for all oncology nurses; they have one of the most difficult and emotional professions known to man). When looking at the research and findings of this article about hand hygiene when treating oncology patients, I feel that the data collection was almost too particular when choosing to survey/research oncology nurses. Their hearts and professional prowess demand them to take any and all additional steps to protect their immuno-compromised patients; including rigorous hand hygiene. This being said, I feel the study could have provided more varying results if they sampled nurses from all units in the hospital vs just on the oncology unit. Their results may have been able to show a wider range of results if they had.
