Clinical audit is a process that involves systematic revision of clinical procedures, such as diagnosis, care, treatment in addition to this, it also includes the investigation of efficient resource utilization and their collective effect on the life quality of the patient (Carter, 2010).From the point of view of clinical authority, the clinical audit process is a ration to access the delivered care to the patient. Nowadays audit is considered to be an essential part of surgical exercise, when the audit process is conjugated with peer review it becomes a robust strategy for maintenance and improvement of surgical care. Surgical audits are meant for the improvement of life quality and care of the patient, it involves the methodical critical analysis of the surgical care followed by peer review against proven standards. In this report, we will look into the nature of a criteria audit, the ways of its execution in health care services, and how criteria audits are being increasingly used in surgical procedures (Jiwa, 2014). Later we will discuss on cholecystectomies, which is the most common treatment for symptomatic gallstone and several other gallbladder aliments. The discussion portion of this report covers few obligatory noticeable features for criteria audit for accessing surgery. Finally, this report chalks up the report result of criteria audit, discussion of results and recommendations for further improvement of cholecystectomies. This study on criteria audits of cholecystectomy was carried out at the Curtin hospital in the southern hemisphere. Here we will address the scope and use of criteria audits in cholecystectomy surgeries (Gul, 2013). Current investigation represents an account of criteria audit practice in cholecystectomy and also outlines the recommendations for further enhancement in this surgical procedure.

Part 2 requires you to complete the criteria audit report.

After making any changes to your data collection form from feedback to Part 1, you will then be required to audit 20 cases available in Resources on Blackboard or 20 hospital records. When using the hospital records on Blackboard, some of the details are missing. Please use your imagination and make this up for the sake of the exercise.

Once you have completed your audit on 20 cases, create a summary sheet (see Note below). On Blackboard in Resources are two Excel spreadsheets called "80 Cholecystectomy Criteria Audit Results" and "80 Health Record Criteria Audit Results". Selecting the correct spreadsheet, add these 80 cases to your summary sheet. You now have data for 100 cases that you can analyse and draw some meaningful information from.

Your final report should have the following headings (see Chapter 3 for section descriptions):

1. Introduction
