Over the past 20 years, there have been significant technological advances which affect our everyday lives. These advances extend to various fields of professional practice including I/O psychology. Professionals in I/O psychology adapt to changing technologies as with any new tool that may shape their profession. Using technology as an instrument to deliver services, implement interventions, conduct research, and assess and/or evaluate personnel, may pose unique ethical and legal challenges and unintentionally influence how ethical codes and guidelines are applied.

Identify a technology (other than social media) that poses ethical and legal challenges to I/O psychology practitioners, apply ethical standards and laws to the challenges, and explore precautions that you would take when using the technology in an organization.
