Mast cells covered with IgE produce inflammatory mediators (leukotrienes and cytokines) as an early response, causing smooth muscle constriction, edema, and mucus production, all of which restrict the airway lumen. Additional lymphocytes are subsequently recruited, escalating the cascade of events that results in bronchospasm and other clinical symptoms (Kumar et al, 2016). It is important to remember that nurses who care for individuals with asthma may see their patients either as outpatients, in emergency department, or as ward nurses. In any of these circumstances, nurses must examine their patients' signs and symptoms, make a diagnosis, and collaborate with the treatment team to develop a management approach. In lieu of this, it is essential to teach patients and their families how to implement the management scheme and to evaluate medication management processes and ensure compliance and adherence to the scheme as part of care delivery.
