A Case of Keeping Subordinates Uniformed

"We've got to teach Mary to train her staff" (it's the production manager of a manufacturing company speaking about one of the "leads"). "Training is her responsibility."

The lead knew what her people needed to know, all right but didn't tell them, so production suffered.

Why didn't she do what needed to be done? What did she get out of keeping her staff ignorant?

Status! Anyone who wanted to know what was going on had to talk to her.
