Consider a simply supported beam of lenght 50ft pinned on the left end at A and on a roller at the right end at B and subjected to a concentrated load of 20 kips at a distance of 20ft from A and a second concentrated load of 10kips 40 feet from A. The cross section of the beam is rectangular (b=4'' and h=8'').

a. Determine the shear and moment diagram.

b. Calculate the maximum normal stress on the top of the beam, on the bottom of the beam and indicate in terms of x its location.
