Question - Garden Gloves has issued 50000 ordinary shares of 50 cents each and 20000 7% preference shares of $1 each. Its profit after taxation for the year to 30 September 2020 were $8400. The management board has decided to pay ordinary dividend of 50% of profit after tax and preference dividend. Show the amount in total of dividend and of retained profits, and calculate the dividend per share on ordinary shares.
