Application: Spot welding of sheet stock. In an electric spot welding machine, the electrodes are circular with diameter d = 10 mm. Two sheets of steel are welded together (Figure 7.47). H the power density (in steel) required for welding is 108 W/m3, calculate:

(a) The potential difference needed on the steel sheets and the current in the electrodes.

(b) The dissipated power density in the electrodes.
