Case Study
HP is a 44-year old black man who has been seen twice in the past two months for "blood pressure problems." At the first visit, his BP was 164/94 mmHg; at the second visit, his BP was 188/108 mmHg. The provider is preparing to start antihypertensive therapy with hrdrochlorothiazide and amlodipine. HP has no other medical conditions but tells you that he hopes the medicatio will not work "slow him down" as he likes to "jump out of bed and get started" with the day.
