James Smith is a 21-year-old male college student presenting to the emergency department with complaints of fever, fatigue, bilateral facial/jaw swelling, and testicular pain. James reports 10 days ago he returned from spending a semester studying abroad in Western Europe. The client reports two days prior he was seen at the Student Health Center and was given a diagnosis of cellulitis. James reports he was given antibiotics and has been taking them as prescribed since he was seen. Upon assessment James is noted to have a fever of 101.7, facial edema, and erythema and swelling of the testicles. James complains of feeling fatigued and weak. All other assessments are within normal limits.
