Question
My degree program is a bachelor's in human resources management. Human resources management focuses on training to manage an organization with hiring, benefits, employee relations, labor laws, training/development etc. One of the key elements of HR is recruiting which requires the skills to identify quality candidates, onboarding processes and interview techniques. I anticipate working with a variety of policy manuals, guides for software systems, textbooks and informative videos. It is important to keep up with the latest trends in the industry, best practices and new strategies for success. I'm not surprised by the materials in the research guide which were articles, eBooks and videos. All the material I found was informative, however I like to read eBooks, articles and study testing/prep materials. The manuals are less enjoyable for me because they are geared towards guiding me through a specific process and that can be unexciting at times. The strategies that will help me navigate through these processes are active reading because I want to retain the information since it will be helpful in the future. I like to highlight and take notes on HR topics. I will save the eBooks and textbooks to reread in case I'm looking for information on a specific topic. Skimming is ideal for information that is excessive or that I need to pull important facts from. Reading aloud and finding a quiet place will help me with comprehension and understanding the important information regarding human resources.
Review the materials you noted would be challenging and share strategies you feel will help your classmates.
