Baby Boy J is a 2200 gram infant born at 37 weeks gestation to a 39 year old G3P1Ab2 female. The father is of Italian descent and 46 years of age. The mother reports having "the flu" during her first month of pregnancy for which she took over-the-counter medications. At 35 weeks gestation, the mother noted decreased fetal movements and fundal height was at 29 cm. The mother went into labor at 36 weeks and was started on tocolytics. An amniocentesis was performed for lung maturity with a FLM (fetal lung maturity test) of 50. At 37 weeks the mother became hypertensive and a stat C-section was performed due to prolonged late decelerations. The apgar score was 5 and 9. On his initial examination, the baby appeared hypotonic and microcephalic. The baby also had hypospadius, extra digits bilaterally, and a Grade II heart murmur.
