Diversity at work
You have recently started new management role at an organisation in Australia
As you are new to the organisation and do not know many staff members, you decide to organise a staff activity that will involve all the members of your new team.
You note that your team is diverse: Mohammad is a Muslim and does not eat pork, Sam requires wheel chair access to enter or leave the workplace, and Claire has a flexible work arrangement in which she leaves early to pick up her child from childcare.
In collaboration with your team supervisor, you have come up with three different activity ideas that you both agree could be fun, positive team building exercises. These are as follows:
- Indoor rock climbing
- Having a barbeque at the park
- Going to a local bar for team drink.
Now that you have analysed the proposed diversity activities, and suggested alternatives (a multicultural day at work and Take a privilege's walk), you will need to consider the best way to communicate your activity ideas to Sam, Claire and Mohammad.
