Jane Freeman is an inpatient coder at Jefferson Washington Medical Center. The billing department called Jane and asked her to change the codes assigned to patient, Edith Stayings, because the insurance denied the claim as investigatory surgery. Jane checked to determine if the codes assigned were correct. They were. What should Jane do? Justify your answers based on the AHIMA Code of Ethics.
