A farming enterprise on podosols in south eastern NSW (on low plains with a rainfall 850mm) has low water holding capacity. It is currently used as a vegetable patch that needs constant irrigation. A landholder wants to undertake a carbon farming initiative by increasing soil organic carbon in the surface soil layers which needs to persist over a 5-10 year interval. The landholder intends to keep using the area to grow vegetables whilst also carbon farming.

Based on the above information:
