Summarize the risks of using evaluation methods that are not based on evidence to inform program changes The goal of the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for Alcohol and Other substance (AOD) services social program is to offer regulated assistance and therapy to those who are dealing with challenges related to alcohol and other substance usage. Program components usually include individual counseling, planned group therapy sessions, education regarding addiction, and maybe medication management. One of the main challenges facing the IOP is the lack of funding and resources. This issue is particularly relevant to my role in social work as it directly affects the quality and availability of support for individuals seeking help for substance abuse. With insufficient funding, it is difficult to maintain an adequate staff-to-patient ratio, provide necessary medications, and offer comprehensive counseling and therapy services. Other stakeholders affected by this issue include the individuals seeking treatment, their families, healthcare providers, and the community at large. Inadequate resources can result in longer wait times for treatment, decreased treatment quality, and increased strain on other healthcare and social support systems. It is essential to address this funding and resource issue.
