If this doesn't work by itself, adjunct medications such as Clonidine or Guanfacine can later be added. The starting dose of Strattera is weight-dependent, but varies from 0.5-1.8mg/Kg/day. Since Sophia is medication naïve, I would start her on the lower end. (Badur et al, 2005) Behavior management therapy can be used in adjunct with medication to primarily teach parents how to manage and educate child in managing their ADHD symptoms. It can also help with things like executive functioning skills, organizational training, and the benefits of consistent routines and structures. (Pfiffner et al., 2014).
