Irma appears to be overwhelmed by the number of activities available at the long-term care facility where she recently moved. When a staff person asks her if she would like to attend a social program or activity at the facility, she starts to shake and become panicky, stating that Â"itÂ's too muchÂ" and she just wants some quiet time in her room. What should you do as the paraprofessional working with Irma? Insist that Irma attend as many activities as possible since this may help prevent her from becoming depressed. Explain to IrmaÂ's family that your facility is not the best fit for her and encourage them to seek assistance at another facility. Report to your care team what Irma is experiencing so that a plan can be made to prevent her from being overstimulated with too much activity. Arrange for IrmaÂ's family members to visit her less frequently so that Irma is more available to attend the events at the facility.
