Question
A 16-year-old healthy male presents to the clinic with sharp, achy pain in his right hand, rated 8/10, accompanied by erythema, edema, and ecchymosis that have developed over the past two hours following an incident where he punched a wall after losing a soccer match. Upon physical examination, vital signs were found to be stable. Due to pain, the right hand displays erythema, edema, ecchymosis, significant point tenderness over the fifth metacarpal, and severely limited active range of motion in the right hand and wrist. The left wrist and hand are non-tender, full, painless, with active and resisted range of motion, scoring 5/5 bilaterally. Sensation to pain and light touch is intact in the fingers, capillary refill is brisk, and radial pulses are 2+ on both sides.
Management Plan of Fracture of RT hand 5th metacarpal, Include prescribed and over-the-counter medications with drug name, dosage, route, and patient education. Detail nonpharmacological treatments and supportive care. Specify any required ancillary tests (e.g., ECG, spirometry, X-ray). List any necessary referrals (e.g., physical therapy, cardiology, hematology).
