To improve a patients oxygenation a nurse can maintain open communication with the APs and monitor techs about the patients oxygen goals and what O2 level would warrant a possible position change of the patient or equipment. They can also notify the RN for further intervention if levels are still low. The nurse can collaborate with PT and RT to improve patient outcomes by performing appropriate exercises and utilizing special equipment tailored to the patients needs. The nurse should also maintain open communication with the MDs with status changes and updates regarding the patients progress. This can ensure the appropriate medications and treatments are in place. Open communication is the key to our patients success.
