Merits of Micro Propagation

The special merits of micro propagation are:

1. It considerably increases the rate of multiplication

2. High rate of multiplication can be maintained throughout the year,

3. The multiplied plants are maintained in disease-free conditions

4. Being free from microbes and insects valuable genotypes of exotic plants can be multiplied for export purpose, and

5. Small size of the propagules and their ability to proliferate in a soil-less environment facilitates their convenient storage, handling and rapid transfer by air across international quarantine barriers.
