Inspection planning can start after the product specification is finalized. First job in the inspection planning is to identify the characteristics which are to be checked in the final inspection. These will include.

a. Functional characteristics such as smooth and efficient operation under normal usage conditions.

b. Physical characteristics such as size shape color etc.

c. Aesthetic characteristics such as surface finish and workmanship.
