Explain industry standard architecture bus, Electrical Engineering

Assignment Help:

Explain the term Industry Standard Architecture Bus.

The Industry Standard Architecture, bus has been approximately since the very start of the IBM-compatible personal computer system. Actually, any card from the very first personal computer will plug in and performed in any of the modern Pentium 4-based computers. It is all made possible by the Industry Standard Architecture bus interface found in all these machines that is still compatible along with the early personal computers.

Industry standard architecture bus has evolved from its original 8-bit standard to the 16-bit standard determined in most systems today. The industry standard architecture bus connector has the entire de-multiplexed address bus (A19-A0) for the 8-bit data bus (D7-D0), the 1M byte 8088 system and the four control signals MEMR', MEMW' and IOR' and IOW' for controlling I/O and any memory which might be placed on the printed circuit card. Industry standard architecture card only operates at 8 MHz rate.
