Assignment Help:

(a) Illustrate First Law of Thermodynamics for a Closed System undergoing a change of state and show that ‘Energy' is a property of the system.

(b) A cylinder contains 1 m3 of a gas at 100 KPa and 100oC. The gas is compressed to a volume of 0.25m3, the final pressure being 600 KPa.

Calculate :

(i) Change in internal energy of the gas.

(ii) The heat transfer by the gas during compression.

Consider γ = .14 and R = 0.287 KJ/Kg
