A substantial influence on our understanding of Globalization (Globalisation in a European spelling) has to do with the influences of nation states, as we now know that NOTHING happens without the approval of the nation state. We begin to see the influences of "systems" that are inputs to economic advantage, et al. An argument about "free trade" ensues, as well as the more tacit influences of Globalization. Clearly the recent "political" environment has called into question the influences of "global" trade deals like NAFTA and TPP, and it creates in our minds at least questions about "winners and losers" ... clearly there are both.
