Q. Write short notes on Bricks?

Bricks are an important construction material required in bulk Quantities for construction of walls both sub structure & super structure. For this good quality of clay shall be used & uniformly burnt in kilns. The maximum water absorption after 24 hours immersion in water shall be 20% for Ist class, 22% for IInd class & 25% for IIIrd class bricks. The maximum compressive strength shall be 35 kg/cm2 . Broken piece when examined shall not exhibit any lumps, voids etc. The test for uniform burning includes sound test of struck together or with any steel piece shall give a clear ringing sound. Brick when thrown from 1 meter height on ground shall not break or crack.
