MMX (Multimedia extensions) technology adds 57 new instructions to instruction set of the Pentium - 4 microprocessors. MMX technology also introduces new general purpose instructions. New MMX instructions are designed for application like motion video, combined graphics with image processing, speech synthesis, video, audio synthesis and compression, telephony, 2D graphics, video conferencing and 3D graphics.
