To find the percent, divide the number of students who said a dog was their favorite (258) by the total number of students surveyed (430); 258 ÷ 430 = 0.6. Change 0.6 to a percent through moving the decimal two places to the right. 60%. This means in which 60 out of 100 students would say dog.
