Q. Where are the adrenal glands located? How many are they and what are their portions?

Each adrenal gland is located on the top of each kidney (forming a hat-like structure for the kidneys) so there are two glands and the adrenal parenchymal structure is divided into two portions that are the central is the medullary portion, or adrenal medulla and the most peripheral is the cortical portion, or adrenal cortex.
