Q. What is Sulphonylureas?

Sulphonylureas: Tolbutarnide is the mildest and its effect remains for 8 hours hence 2-3 doses need to be taken. Another drug chlorpropamide needs only a single dosage as it is a stronger anda long acting medicine. They stimulate the pancreas to release more insulin. Tolbutamide and talzamide are first generation sulphonylureas while glyburide glopizide glimeperide belong to the category of second generation sulphonylureas.
