What is Seigneurialism

To the West of the Elbe River, feudalism in this period was evolving. Because, in the western half of Europe, there was more manufacturing and more trade, there were greater chances for people to leave the land and make their living elsewhere. As a result, people who worked on the land were no longer tied to the land.
